The way we teach young people in the United States is more than a century old. Students sit in desks while a teacher stands in front of them and tells them what they need to know. Every student is expected to learn this way, which is why every student is tested with the same questions and in the same way.
AltSchool wants to change how we educate by personalizing education at the student-by-student level. The startup’s software program allows students to identify their strengths and improve their weaknesses at their own pace, while enabling teachers to share strategies and data across the AltSchool network.
Most people see room for improvement in how we educate. AltSchool wants to be that improvement. To get there, they’ll have to scale a network that currently serves hundreds of students into one that can capably serve millions.
